Kangaroo Pet Food Debate

The continuing debate of whether to continue using the carcasses of culled kangaroos in pet food is reaching a point of decision as the Andrews Government look like they won't continue the trial period in March according to Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy.

Mr McCurdy said the plan was originally put in place by the coalition when in government but there are fears it will not be continued.

"It's a wonderful tool in reducing the amount of kangaroos that are out there, but it's also great not leaving the carcasses on the ground for the wild dogs because then the wild dogs get out of control.

"But the Labor government has turned its back on it," he said.

The trial extension ends on March 31st.
