Local Bike Jumps Removed

Adventure lovers in Wangaratta have woken to the well-known bike jumps near Sydney Beach demolished.

Article continues below

It is believed the council had to demolish the jumps due to “damage of native vegetation ground layers and allows invasion by opportunistic weeds,” under the Land Act 1958.

Council were fast to respond to the complaints, after an Instagram account “”we_want_the_mtb_jumps_back” began calling out the issue and expressed their concerns.

Council are throwing a meeting to talk about the bike jumps and to “help select locations and tracks,” insinuating that more will eventually be built elsewhere.

If you would like to attend the meeting, it's at Paulie's Corner on Friday 26 July 4-5.30pm.
