The border between NSW and Victoria will close from tomorrow night.

It follows advice from the NSW Chief Health Officer and continued concern about the rise of cases in Victoria.

NSW Opposition leader Jodi McKay called for the border between NSW and Victoria to close.

There are mixed opinions about whether or not restrictions should be eased for places like the North East.

A medical expert has warned residents not to enter the COVID-19 hot spots in Melbourne with the numbers of confirmed cases of coronavirus increasing and more metro postcodes being locked-down.

President of the Australian Medical Association, Dr Tony Bartone says there should be no further easing of restrictions in regions like the North East, until Melbourne is under control.

Dr Bartone says the different states seem to be in competition about who can ease restrictions faster and it could cause problems, even more outbreaks.

But local MPs Tania Maxwell and Tim McCurdy are calling for restrictions to be eased in regional towns.

Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy believes we should get different rules and regulations because businesses in the area have been suffering since the bushfires.
