Massive Amount Raised for Good Friday Appeal

Wangaratta raised the second-highest amount of money for the Royal Children's Hospital's Good Friday Appeal, out of all regional towns in Victoria.

Wangaratta raised more than $96,000 - beaten only by Ballarat.

Other towns across the North East rose to the challenge, too.

Wodonga raised more than $76,000, Benalla raised almost $19,000, and Beechwroth collected more than $14,000.

Rutherglen managed to get $14,500, while across the river, Corowa tallied up almost $66,000.

This will go towards helping sick kids and their families - like local four-year-old Luna (pictured above), who was diagnosed with leukemia last year, and has spent the past few months at the hospital.

“We understand that for many families, the last 12 months have continued to be challenging, and we’re overjoyed by the generosity of Victorian communities," says Rebecca Cowan, Executive Director of the Good Friday Appeal.

“The Good Friday Appeal has been made possible thanks to the thousands of dedicated volunteers, tin rattlers and regional area managers. It is because of you we stand here today in our 90th year.”

Overall, the total amount raised for the 2021 Good Friday Appeal came in at a whopping $17,122,879.
